WA Small Business Day on Saturday 26 October is a time to celebrate and support the heart of our local economy—small business!

Small businesses are more than just places to shop; they are the cornerstone of our communities and provide essential goods, services, and jobs. In fact, 97% of all businesses in WA are small, contributing $50.1 billion to the economy and employing over 40% of the private sector workforce.

By choosing to shop small, you’re supporting entrepreneurs and ensuring the sustainability of local jobs. Small businesses often reinvest their earnings back into the community, further boosting WA’s economy. Whether it’s buying your morning coffee from a local café or picking up unique handmade gifts from a boutique, your purchases have a significant impact.

How You Can Make a Difference

There are plenty of ways to get involved and support your local businesses. One easy way is to take the #mysmallpledge and commit to doing some of your shopping at a small business, especially as the holiday season approaches. This small change can make a huge difference to a local business owner. Additionally, spread the word! Share your positive experiences with friends and family to encourage them to think small first.

Get Involved with WBA’s Social Campaign

Next week, in the lead up to WA Small Business Day, the Wanneroo Business Association (WBA) will give you the opportunity to share your favorite local businesses on our social media platforms. Simply tag your preferred businesses in the comments and let others know why they stand out. This is a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on those businesses you love and help them reach a broader audience.

Together, we can ensure that our small businesses thrive and continue to contribute to the vibrant, diverse economy of Western Australia.
